Melissa McLennon serves as the executive director of Nova Southeastern University's Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) within the Division of Research. She brings 25+ years of experience in academic, biomedical, and clinical research, with extensive expertise in quality management systems, Good Clinical Practice (GCP) audits, federal audits, regulatory affairs, compliance, quality assurance and control (QA/QC), monitoring, auditing, and research training and education. She obtained a double bachelor's degree in biology and sociology from Duke University, and her master's in public health from the University of Miami. She is a certified clinical research professional through SOCRA. In her role, McLennon provides oversight of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) and supports the university's research enterprise by aligning policies and practices to safeguard the rights, welfare, and protection of human research participants. She is committed to fostering a culture of ethical, compliant, and high-quality research, with a strategic focus on harmonizing processes across the institution to ensure safe and responsible conduct of research.
