Dr. O'Connell has over 18 years of research-related experience in academic, health sciences, evidence-based medical, general business, and legal writing, editing, and review. Through her business clients, she has been instrumental in federal, state, and private foundation funding for grant supported initiatives, non-profit start up, and contract development. She has been effective in her roles as a business owner, health care consultant, a liaison for an institutional review board, a technical writer for a published patent application for industry, and a reviewer and writer of clinical protocols, journal articles for nursing, and standard operating procedure manuals for medical offices and general business agencies. Her work at Harvard University School of Medicine expanded her research technique, and review of scholarly articles, and journal reviews, increasing her breadth of current styles in grant proposal narrative writing.  Her essential duties as a research administrator, while working at Boston University School of Medicine, included grant review, budget review, pre, and post-award budget approval, and internal set-up.  She was also responsible for electronic submission of renewals, and applications to NIH, NSF, NCI, and DOD.  FSR review, and progress report submission were also part of this process. This experience has given Dr. O'Connell a comprehensive snapshot of research and grant activities from start-to-finish in an academic setting.  Her legal education, and work relating to ethics, regulatory compliance, and legal writing support project development at all phases for submission.

Her education background includes a Doctorate in Health Care Sciences, a Masters Degree in Health Law, a Bachelor's in Business and nursing and paralegal certifications from the State of Pennsylvania.
