William Smith, J.D., Director of Human Subjects Protection Program/Institutional Review Board has nearly 20 years of experience in research, at educational and academic medicine institutions. The IRB's primary goal is to protect the rights and welfare of participants in research studies, and that the primary method for doing so involves rapport between the IRB and researchers to assist researchers in fulfilling their obligations to participants.  

He serves as the lead programmer and point of contact for the university's electronic research administration system, IRBManager.
