Back to Nova Southeastern University
The IRB is made up of members from each of the university’s Colleges, known as College Representatives. Each College Dean nominates Representatives to the IRB and the Institutional Official appoints them to serve a two year term. IRB members are knowledgeable about federal regulations and ethical standards and are sensitive to community attitudes. Researchers should contact their assigned IRB College Representative with any questions related to the IRB process.
College Representative Membership includes:
- Chair (selected from the College Representatives)
- Vice-Chairs (selected from the College Representatives)
- At least one member from each College
- Appointed Alternate(s) for each member to serve when the primary member is unavailable
- At least one Community Member who is not affiliated with the university and who represents the perspective of the local community
The voting membership for the monthly Convened IRB meetings consists of 10 individuals selected from the College Representatives membership. One member must be an unaffilited Community Member and one must be a non-scientist.
